At the signing ceremony, representatives of both sides introduced the profile and future expectations of the parks, and said that they would take the opportunity of establishing a tie of sister parks to further deepen cooperation in geological heritage protection, science popularization and research, talent cultivation, tourism development, and other aspects.
Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark is the first global geopark in Malaysia and even Southeast Asia. It was officially approved as a UNESCO global geopark by the UNESCO Executive Board in 2007. The park is renowned for its beautiful island scenery, unique geological landscapes, lush forests, spectacular waterfalls, and a wide variety of wild animals and plants. The 9th Asia Pacific Geoparks Network Symposium will be held in the park in 2026.
